Idol deja vu
Scott "Serial Killer" Savol skates by yet another week on American Idol. How does he keep doing it? Is the country that stupid? Or deaf? I draw your attention to another horridly prolific singer that once graced the Idol stage for far too long: Nikki.
White trash single mom Nikki from season one outlasted singer after singer with more talent and charisma thanks to all the other white trash single mom viewers who rallied behind her. The same thing is happening with Scott this season. Ugly losers see themselves in him and go out of their way to vote him through, no matter how poorly he performs.
It'll catch up with him, hopefully this week. For Nikki, it was outlasting favorite Tamyra that woke up voters. Now that beloved Constantine is gone (although he was just as awful last night as Scott), let the backlash begin. Even if he lasts another week or two, don't worry too much. Nikki's big success? She works at a karaoke parlor back home in Texas.

The Race is on!
Tonight's Amazing Race leg was one of the best yet. It was just pure joy to see the evil Rombah (Rob and Amber, fyi) fall so unknowingly behind, all the while bashing the teams who were passing him for being stupid idiots. Karma. It's coming for you Rob.
Unfortunately, they weren't last, which is just as well since it was inevitable this leg would be non-elimination. Too bad, because Miss South Carolina is showing her true colors. Turns out she's quite the obnoxious beeotch. I don't know how Mr. POW didn't just smack her when she made that unbelieveable comment about his captivity "getting him out" of his military service. :: jaw drop ::
Uchenna and Joyce have really grown on me and I'm rooting for them to win, but honestly as long as it's not Rombah, I'll be happy.

Never thought I'd do it...
but I was cheering out loud for Chloe at the end of tonight's 24 episode. Talk about turning a character around! Last season I absolutely hated her, but the writers have done an expert job of developing her from annoying weirdo into eccentric heroine.
The last 10 minutes, along with the frustrating undoing of the acting president, made for one of the most riveting episodes of the season so far. I can't wait for next week!

Travel and Tivo
Travel is great, but when you're out of the country for a week it's tough to miss all your regular shows. Thanks to my Tivo, though, I don't have to! I come home and all my shows are waiting for me to watch. Finding the time to watch them all and avoiding hearing about the outcomes and plot twists can be tricky, but it sure is better than the alternative.
I have a solid block of things I want to see just waiting for me to watch. Thanks, Tivo!

Want to catch up on Lost & Desperate Housewives?
It's always a tough call. There's a hot new show everyone's talking about, but you keep forgetting to watch it. You miss two, then three, then four episodes -- pretty soon you just give up, figuring you've missed too much to ever catch up on. If this describes you and Lost or Desperate Housewives this season, you're in luck!
ABC is airing a special catch-up show for Desperate Housewives on April 24th and
another one for Lost on April 27th. The press release says the shows will be for current viewers and new viewers alike, they sound more like clip shows for those who have been missing out. This is a great chance for those of you who have been hesitant to start watching, or who have just missed a show here and there, to get caught up. So watch!

Idiot
Chris should've been fired weeks ago, but he keeps skating by.
Looks like that's not going to happen much longer. The hiring hasn't yet happened, but if you were one of the final two, would you be worried about a $20 cover? Didn't think so.

Breaking News: Water is Wet!
It's great that ABC is doing so well this season, but do they really have to rub it in? Most networks quietly renew their strong shows well in advance of the May "up-front" presentations where they lay out the lineup for next fall, but not ABC. They trumpeted a press release -- primarily designed to highlight their ratings u-turn this last season --
announcing that Desperate Housewives, Lost, Alias and Boston Legal are being renewed. NO. WAY. Okay, so maybe Alias is a little bit of a surprise, but Lost? Desperate Housewives? Whatever.

Good news and great news
One of my consistently favorite shows for the last several years has been Malcolm in the Middle. It's had its ups and downs, but thanks to Tivo I've recently be rediscovering the hilarity of the early seasons. The good news today is that
Fox has renewed it for the 7th season next year!
Also from Fox, some great news. No, Arrested Development hasn't (yet) bet renewed, but keep your fingers crossed and keep watching! The horrid Kelsey Grammer-backed Sketch Show, which really is just a poor imitation of SNL, Mad TV, et al, is
being nuked just five episodes into its run. Good riddance!
